This is an archaeological site which early human fossils were first discovered in 1911 by German entomologist, Louis Leakey, who was looking for butterflies.

 

Before the discovery of   “Lucy” in Ethiopia in 1974, the fossil of hominid called Australopithecus boisei was considered oldest ancestor of modern homo sapiens dating 1.75 to 1.25 million years.

 

This is still a very important archaeological site, and is being researched by the descendants of Leakey.

 

We had a small lecture by a Tanzanian guide at the site. It was an awesome feeling to be at the site of our ancestors.
