Ngorongoro Crater Consevation Area:
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the biggest craters or more correctly calderas in the world covering 264 sq km (102 sq miles). The caldera bottom is mainly open grassy plains with alternating fresh and brackish-water lakes, swamps and some acacia woodlands.
The crater creates almost perfect climate for wild animals year-round. Many of the normally migratory animals never leave the crater. Some male African Elephants are known to come and go over the steep rim to mate.
When we saw a huge dust ball, at first we didn’t know what was going on. As the dust settled down four Cheetahs appeared out of it. The mother was teaching her three cubs how to hunt to by using a hare. That was extremely exciting.
Also there we had a great fun watching Warthogs which came very close to us. They are one of our favorites.
