Lake Elementaita:
Lake Elementaita is one of the national
game reserves of Kenya. We hiked down to the lake guided by resident Maasai guide to see flocks of Greater and Lesser
Flamingoes. The lake is a salt lake
surrounded with Yellow Fever Trees which branches are greenish yellow and were
glowing even in the low light of early evening. It was extremely quiet without any noise of
modern times until we reached to the lake to meet a zillion pink Flamingoes. There I was awestruck with the vastness of
the sky. This was my first impression of
Africa being huge.
We stayed at the Lake Elementaita
Lodge, which was a pleasant and romantic lodge with a view of the lake on the slope
of the Great Rift Valley. What a difference from the austere Methodist
Guest House in claustrophobic Nairobi
city. Some members had a great fun in
the pool.
