Lunch at Helen’s:
We were invited to the lunch at Helen Isiaho’s house. Helen is a trainer/preparer of Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers, inspector of schools in region, has taken many courses in preparation of educational materials and other things related to ECD.
For most of the members it was the first time to taste Kenyan home cooking. The lunch was started with roasted ground nuts which are really good there, followed by fried chicken, curried beef, Kunde mutella, Kenyan greens, which tasted like sorrel, ugali, grits-like Kenyan white corn meal, and rice. And unforgettable heavenly hash made of pineapple, banana and her garden-grown papaya. All of us made pigs out of ourselves there. Only few wanted eat the dinner that night.
