Way to Nairobi:

We had some troubles getting to Nanyuki from Kakamega.  Gichuki was pretty upset because he found out that he had forgotten to tighten the cap of the radiator in the morning after a regular check up.  We had to stop many times in many inconvenient places.  First time when we stopped, a gentleman came out of nowhere and offered us help.  To our surprise he was a head of a Quaker church in the region.  In another place where we asked for water, we received a half full container with muddy water and that was all what they had.  We encountered so many kind people because of this car trouble.

We had to change our plan to get to Nanyuki that day, instead we stayed at Thomson’s Falls.  It is located in the higher and cooler land so that the vegetation was very strange.  The lodge had all kinds of seasonal flowers blooming in its garden.  Next morning when I woke up, the fall was almost invisible with dense fog.  The fog was drifting even on the lawn of the lodge.  It was magical.

We stopped at an equator crossing by the advice of Gichuki.  The gentleman demonstrated the direction of whirlpool by using two vessels to make a drain.  He said it has to be 17 meter away from the equator to see this effect.  Actually on the equator the water didn’t make any rotation when drained.  We were handed out colorful sheets of equator crossing certificates.  After we learned it costs $5.00, quietly we all handed back the sheets to him.
