Ranakpur Jain Temple:
Ranakpur Jain Temple is located
a few hours drive from Jodhpur pretty high up amidst hilly mountains.
It was built in the 1439 by Rana Kumbha on the land donated to Jains.
The temple is
dedicated to Lord Adinath, whose four-faced
image is enshrined in its central sanctuary.
There are four subsidiary shrines, 80 domes supported by
1,444 pillars which none of them are identical.
Entire building is made of
white marble stones and the play of light and shade on the minutely
carved figures leaves a tantalizing effects. We felt its spiritual effects
right away when we walked into this magnificent temple.
