City Palace:
The palace was conceived and built by Jai Singh in early 18th century, but many
of the apartments and halls were added by his successors.
The royal family still occupies part of the palace to this date.
Other palace buildings now are museums exhibiting antiquities of the former residents.
One of among what we saw was a huge pants worn by Madho Singh I (one of Jai Singh's sons
who stood 2m (6'4") tall and weighed 400 pounds) with a waist size of about 20 feet.
There are two silver urns listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest crafted
silver objects in the world, each more than 5 feet tall with a capacity of 8182 litres (2064 gallons).
When Madho Singh II went to England to attend the coronation of King Edward VII in 1901,
he was so reluctant to trust the water in the West that he had these urns filled with Ganges
water and took them along with him.
