Keoladeo National Park:

The park formerly known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, was for sixty years a royal hunting reserve. However, against the odds, the avian population flourished, and it became a sanctuary in 1956, receiving total protection in 1981 when it was recognized as a national park. Today, Keoladeo's 29 square kilometers of swamp and lakes constitute one of the most important breeding and migratory areas in the world.

Species include Siberian cranes (endangered), spoonbills, pink flamingos, white ibises, grey pelicans, vultures, darters, falcons, ospreys, which many of those we watched but they were too far away for pictures, along with the birds in our pictures.

We never thought we would enjoy bird watching so much before. However by traveling through Rajasthan area and encountering numerous birds on the way, we added this destination against our original plan. And we were so glad that we did that. Only there we really needed a huge telephoto. Please pardon our blurry pictures.
